Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury signed a contract for a unification fight
Promoter Alexander Krasyuk commented on the information about the signing of a contract for a fight for the title of absolute world champion between the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Alexander Usik and WBC champion Tyson Fury.
“I can’t believe this is happening, but it is. It’s hard to express how excited I am to be part of the biggest heavyweight fight of the century.”
“I thank Saudi Arabia and His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh for making this happen. Respect to Tyson for his courage and gratitude to the Lord for everything he gives us,” the promoter said.
Earlier it became known that both boxers signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. The fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
The unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian.
Usyk challenged Fury again after successfully defending his WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Daniel Dubois. It was reported that January 27, 2024 was being considered as a potential new date for the unification bout.
Before the meeting with Usik, Fury will fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
