Warren: I’m looking forward to Tyson regaining the three belts he didn’t lose in the ring

The fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion is planned to take place in December 2023 or January 2024

Promoter Frank Warren commented on the signing of a contract for a fight for the undisputed title between the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belts Alexander Usik and WBC champion Tyson Fury.

“I’m glad to finally sign a contract for this fight. This is the biggest fight possible in our sport. Heavyweights always capture the imagination of fans and I have no doubt that this will be the biggest boxing event of the century. I look forward to Tyson regaining the three belts he never lost in the ring.”

Fury held the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring titles, which he won in a fight against Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko. Later, the Briton got into a scandal due to the use of doping, and then drugs. Tyson lost all his titles at various times and, returning to the ring, won the WBC belt.

Earlier it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. The fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

The unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian.

Usyk challenged Fury again after successfully defending his WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Daniel Dubois. It was reported that January 27, 2024 was being considered as a potential new date for the unification bout.

Before the meeting with Usik, Fury will fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
