The American hopes to get into the ring with the former world champion in three weight categories
Former two-division world champion Shakur Stevenson once again expressed a desire to fight with the former champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“Who would I like to fight in my next fight – Navarrete or Lomachenko? With Lomachenko. I would fight him because it’s a bigger fight. He’s a big name in the lightweight division, so when I beat him, the world will know I’m the real deal. I think he beat Devin Haney. I think there is a possibility that I will stop him early. If not, I’ll beat the crap out of him,” Shakur said.
“I don’t know if Lomachenko’s team is staying away from me because of our sparring. I don’t discuss my sparring, but I would love to fight him. I don’t know why we don’t fight. This fight was supposed to happen next.”
“I heard that he was offered the biggest fee of his career, but he refused. I hope we can still arrange something. I don’t see why not do this.”
Stevenson’s next fight will be on November 16 against Edwin De Los Santos at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The vacant WBC lightweight title will be at stake in the bout.
In his last fight, Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney in the fight for the title of absolute world lightweight champion. Vasily will not enter the ring in 2023.
