Judoka Mukhamed-Ali Mataev told that he was not entirely satisfied with the gold he won at the Russian Championship, as he intended to compete with his opponent in the full final.
The FONBET Russian Judo Championship began on Wednesday in Kemerovo. Mataev became the champion in the weight category up to 100 kg. In the final, he beat 2021 Russian champion Niyaz Bilalov, who entered the match injured, in less than a minute.
— I was preparing for a serious fight, because the opponent is very strong. It happened that he was injured, but he still came out to fight. I didn’t think everything would turn out like this, but today I managed to win. I’m not very happy, because I wanted to fight Niyaz at full strength.
I can’t talk about the plans, it all depends on the coaches of the national team,” Mataev told .
The Russian Judo Championship will end on October 1. Live broadcasts of the tournament can be viewed on Match Group television channels, as well as on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
