RCC Fair Fight featherweight champion Kamran Nabati made his tournament debut with a victory on Friday. Archangel Michael, 28, defeated experienced Thai Pongsiri PC Saenchai by unanimous decision in a Muay Thai bout at 145.4 pounds. For almost the entire fight, the Russian looked more confident: he actively put pressure on his opponent from the first minutes of the fight, looking more aggressive and faster. Nabati had a chance to win in the second round when he hit his opponent with a right hand, but the knockout did not happen – Pongsiri turned out to be a powerful opponent. Nabati now has 19 victories (Muay Thai and kickboxing) and remains undefeated.
In the tournament numbered ONE Fight Night 14, Dmitry Menshikov, undefeated before his debut in ONE in June this year, took part in his second fight in Asia’s largest league. The fight took place in the lightweight division under Muay Thai rules. Initially, the rival of the drummer from Prokopyevsk was Sinsamut, but Rungravi replaced him. The Thai fighter nicknamed Legatron failed to fully demonstrate his skills: the Russian put strong pressure on his opponent, and in the middle of the first round he began to perform a series of punches to the head, found an opening for a hard uppercut, added a few more and sent his opponent to the canvas. The referee stopped the fight at 02:41 of the first round. Menshikov, now 25 years old, has 28 victories in kickboxing and Muay Thai, including 20 by knockout or technical knockout.
In the main event of the evening, at the start of the third round, Stemp Fairtex won the fight against South Korea’s Ham Sue Hee by technical knockout. The fight took place according to MMA rules. Initially, the rivals were supposed to compete for a temporary belt in MMA at atomweight. However, champion Angela Lee came to the tournament to announce that she was leaving the sport and vacating the belt. After the tragic death of his sister, Lee decided to dedicate his professional career to mental health issues and helping athletes who were unable to cope with the pressure on their own. To do this, she created the Fightstory Foundation. With this victory, Stemp became the first ONE athlete to hold titles in three disciplines: Muay Thai, MMA and kickboxing.
