Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez defeated the American Jermell Charlo and retained the title of absolute world champion in the second middleweight category.
The fight took place in Las Vegas and lasted 12 rounds. The judges gave Canelo the victory by unanimous decision.
Álvarez achieved the 60th victory of his career with two draws and two defeats. He holds the IBF, WBC, WBO and WBA Super belts.
Charlo suffered the second defeat of his career with 35 wins and one draw. After entering the ring, he lost the WBO junior middleweight championship belt, which went to Australian Tim Tszyu.
