The Swedish boxer inflicted the second defeat in his career on a Russian after Alexander Usik
Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin (26-1, 14 KO) defeated the former cruiserweight world champion by split decision Murata Gassieva (30-2, 23 KOs). The fight for the WBA regional heavyweight title took place in Antalya, Turkey.
The Swede gradually increased his advantage using his size and movement. In the sixth round, Wallin was close to knocking down his opponent, but was unable to bring the attack to an effective conclusion.
Towards the end of the fight, Gassiev seized the initiative, taking advantage of the Swede’s fatigue, but Wallin withstood the onslaught. Two judges gave the victory to the Swedish boxer with a score of 115:113, one recorded an unexpected result of 117:111 in favor of Gassiev.
Wallin defeated Helaman Olguin by unanimous decision in his previous fight. Gassiev suffered his second defeat in his career. Earlier, the Russian was defeated by Alexander Usik in the fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion.
