Hearing before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the appeal of the International Boxing Association (IBA) against the decision of the International Olympic Committee (CIO ) to deprive the IBA of its recognition status will take place on November 16, according to the CAS website.
In June, the IOC accepted the recommendation of the organization’s executive committee not to return recognition to the IBA, as the association had not fulfilled the necessary conditions put forward in December 2021. The IOC executive board also recommended to the session “in the interest of athletes and sport” that boxing be kept on the program of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in accordance with previous decisions. At the same time, the world boxing organization was created, which already included a number of countries.
In mid-June, the IBA appealed this decision to the CAS and asked the court to suspend the IOC’s recommendations until the court’s final verdict.
