Joshua: On August 20 I will be ready to fight round after round

AJ hopes not to repeat the mistakes of the first fight against Usyk

Former World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua at a press conference shared his expectations from the second fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua is set to reclaim the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO championship belts he lost to Usyk last fall. The revenge of the Englishman and the Ukrainian will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

“I had a great first fight in Saudi Arabia [против Энди Руиса]the second one will be even better,” said Joshua.

“It’s a tough sport. Especially when you fight these left-handed opponents, it’s a nightmare. And I must not make the same mistake a second time.”

“After the first fight, I spent time in America. I should have done this early in my career. It was good to work with [тренером Джошуа] Robert Garcia. I need to make important decisions for myself. Yes, a new coach is a new experience, but the goal remains the same – to win the fight.

“I didn’t win last time, but 12 rounds in the asset is not bad. But every fight is different. I love boxing, I watch it, but as long as you don’t step into the ring and stand in front of your opponent, it doesn’t matter how many videos you watch, how many duels of views or press conferences you have – everything is completely different in the ring. You can’t dwell on it [опыте первого боя]must be in the present moment. What happened is in the past, I don’t live in the past. On August 20, I will be focused and ready to fight round after round.”

The second fight between Joshua and Usyk will be broadcast live on DAZN on a PPV (Pay-Per-View) basis.
