The head of the World Boxing Council said that his organization will support the fight for the title of absolute champion.
The WBC will not interfere in the fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. On the contrary, the organization strongly supports this fight. This is what the head of the World Boxing Council Mauricio Suleiman said.
The functionary also compared the owner of the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles, Alexander Usik, to the soldiers currently defending our state from Russian terrorists.
“For the WBC, the Fury-Usyk fight is special, because we fully support the organization of the fight for the status of absolute world heavyweight champion, and have done so in all previous years. We are flexible and made sure that no one interferes with the organization of the match.
In addition, Alexander Usyk is a very dear friend of the WBC and of me personally. The WBC strongly supports peace and Ukraine, and Usyk has become a national hero of his homeland around the world.
Alexander will be remembered as one of the bravest heroes in Ukrainian history. When the great war began, he was abroad, but came home and took up arms. He then fought two major battles in the ring, giving his countrymen a lot of pride, happiness and motivation to fight the enemy.
Usik fights in the ring like every other soldier you have on the battlefield. He is an absolute hero.
This battle will surely be remembered by all of us for many years. We will talk about it as a “Thriller in Manila” or “Cut in the Jungle”. This will be the greatest fight in boxing history. The winner of this fight will be at the top of the boxing world,” said Suleiman in an interview with Luckypunch.net.
Let’s remember that the promoter previously named a condition under which the fight between Usik and Fury would not take place.
