The contract for the fight between Usik and Fury provides for a bilateral rematch clause.

The winner will be required to defend the IBF title against Filip Hrgovic regardless of the agreement on a re-fight

Contract for a fight for the absolute heavyweight title between the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO champion Alexander Usik and WBC belt holder Tyson Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.

In its turn IBF sent a letter to the boxers stating that the winner will be obliged to defend their belt without any intermediate fights. This also applies to a potential rematch between Usik and Fury.

The mandatory challenger for the IBF title is Filip Hrgovic. Earlier, Philip’s promoter Nisse Sauerland said that Usyk and Fury were acting “immorally” by postponing the Croatian’s fight. It is reported that if for any reason the belt becomes vacant, Hrgovic will have a title fight with Anthony Joshua.

At the end of September, it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

Before the meeting with Usik, Fury will fight against Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
