Athletistic/MMA. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson shared his opinion in a commentary for Sport Express regarding the decision to allow Russian fighters to fight in the UFC under the national flag. Earlier, UFC director Dana White confirmed that starting at the UFC Fight Night 229 tournament, Russian fighters will be able to represent the country under the Russian flag.

“Many times I have not agreed with what Dana White is doing, but it is a great decision. He realizes that sport is not political. Fighters should have the right to be themselves. Why shouldn’t they represent the country they were born in, where they trained? This is simply absurd! It’s great that Dana White understands that fighters should be allowed to do what they want, to express their opinions. I applaud! All international federations, including the IOC, should take note and act the same soon,” Monson noted in an interview with Sport-Express.

  • Monson’s farewell fight will take place in Ufa against Taktarov
