Congolese wants to meet Zhang Zhilei
Congolese heavyweight boxer Martin Bakole wants to fight the interim WBO heavyweight champion Zhang Zhilei. Martin believes he has sufficient experience against southpaws, based on his sparring with the Ukrainian Alexander Usik.
“I fight southpaws very well. I know how to stop them. Considering what happened with Usyk, he knows that I can stop the southpaw. I’ve been learning all my life by training with my left-handed brother. I would like to fight Zhang Zhilei because it will be a good fight for me. So I’m looking forward to it. I hope I can get this fight.”
Bakole will fight his next fight with 42-year-old Carlos Takam. The fight will take place on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou fight in Saudi Arabia on October 28.
In April, Bakole knocked out Ukrainian Igor Shevadzutsky in Rzeszow, Poland. In the third round, the referee was forced to stop the fight due to Martin’s obvious advantage.
