The Russian national team refused to participate in the III World Martial Arts Games, reports Sovetsky Sport with reference to the press service of the Russian Union of Martial Arts.
The tournament begins in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on October 20. The program includes competitions in boxing, sambo, judo, fencing and various types of martial arts.
— We will not participate in the World Martial Arts Games. We sent an application to participate under our flag and anthem, but our application remained unanswered,” the Russian Martial Arts Union told Soviet Sport.
The World Martial Arts Games are taking place for the third time in history. Previous tournaments were held in Beijing and St. Petersburg, in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
