Olympic judo champion Khasan Khalmurzaev temporarily suspended from competitions due to violation of the internal rules of the Russian Judo Federation, reported the website International Judo Federation (IFJ).
— It was recognized that the athlete had violated the internal rules of the federation, which prohibit the public publication of personal religious or political opinions. The Russian Judo Federation immediately suspended the athlete from all participation in competitions until a new decision is made, the statement said.
It should be noted that the decision was made “in response to Khalmurzaev’s recent publications on social networks.”
Khalmurzaev won gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in the weight category up to 81 kg. He also achieved victories at the European Championships and the Universiade, as well as bronze at the World Championships.
