The legendary boxer was not named Muhammad Ali, or Joe Frazier, or Evander Holyfield.
Legendary former boxer George Foreman named the toughest opponent he had to fight in his career.
Oddly enough, it turned out not to be a world star like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier or Evander Holyfield, where Foreman had to box.
“I have to say Ron Lyle because he gave me the hardest fight of my career. He hit me hard, I fell, fell and got up. It was the hardest fight of my life.
With Muhammad Ali I could do everything I wanted, but I got tired and he managed to knock me out. If I had been more respectful to Ali, I would have been able to relax a little bit at some stages of that fight and conserve energy, but with Ron Lyle I couldn’t relax because he was going to kill me,” Boxing Social quotes Foreman.
Remember that the fight between Foreman and Lyle took place in 1976. Then Foreman won early in five rounds. The fight was voted Fight of the Year by Ring Magazine.
Earlier, Lennox Lewis named the strongest opponent of his career.
