Makhachev’s opponent at UFC 294 was supposed to be Brazilian Charles Oliveira, but he received a cut shortly before the tournament and will not be able to participate in the fight.
In the co-main event of UFC 294, the fight will pit Chechen Khamzat Chimaev, representing the United Arab Emirates, and Nigerian Kamaru Usman, representing the United States. Chimaev was also originally scheduled to fight a different opponent. Khamzat was preparing for a fight with Paulo Costa, who was forced to withdraw from the event due to an untreated staph infection.
UFC 294 will take place in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on October 21.
