WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu defeated the interim WBC champion in this category, the American Brian Mendoza, during a boxing evening in Sydney.
The fight lasted 12 rounds, after which the judges unanimously gave victory to the representative of Australia. Tszyu defended his WBO junior middleweight title for the first time.
Tim Tszyu is the son of former absolute junior welterweight champion Konstantin Tszyu. The 28-year-old boxer has 24 victories in the professional ring (17 by KO). Tim Tszyu has spent all but one of his fights in Australia. For Mendoza, 29, this defeat is the third of his career; he also has 22 victories (16 by KO).
