Athletistic / Boxing. Olympic champion, former Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin, shared his opinion on the change of citizenship of Russian athletes. Povetkin said he would not change his citizenship.

“It’s such a serious topic. Of course, for me, when there is a Russian flag, when I take out my anthem, it’s great. But, again, now a lot of guys are preparing for competitions. If they play without the flag and the anthem, then it’s still knowing who they are. I think, let them play. Why not? Everyone knows who they are. And everyone knows that they are for Russia.

Povetkin responded to criticism for his comments on Makhachev

How do I feel about changing my citizenship? You know, I can say this: to each their own. I don’t like to discuss anyone. I wouldn’t change my citizenship, that’s for sure. And it’s not in my rules to discuss someone,” Povetkin said on the Metaratings YouTube channel.
