Frampton: Fury has a monster physique and is a clear favorite against Usyk

The ex-world champion believes that the recent fight against Dubois showed the vulnerability of the Ukrainian

Former world champion in two weight categories Carl Frampton shared his forecast for the planned unification fight between the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Alexander Usik and world champion according to WBC Tyson Fury.

“I think Fury is the clear favorite in this fight right now,” the former boxer said.

“After watching the fight between Usik and Dubois, I got the impression that he could be hit with a blow to the body.”

“It’s not just Fury’s size: he can box, he’s strong and tough. But he also has a monstrous physique, and I think that’s what will help him win the fight,” Frampton said.

At the end of August, Usyk defeated Briton Daniel Dubois by knockout in the ninth round. The fight was remembered for a scandalous episode when the referee recorded a low blow from Daniel and gave Alexander time to recover. Dubois’ side tried to challenge the result of the fight, but the World Boxing Association (WBA) rejected this appeal after a detailed review.

At the end of September, Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia. It is planned that the exact date of the event will be announced after the fight between the “Gypsy King” and Francis Ngannou.

According to British heavyweight Dereck Chisora, the unification fight will take place in December if Tyson is not injured in the fight with Ngannou.

The contract for the undisputed heavyweight title between Usyk and Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.
