Wilder’s coach compared the Ukrainian champion to his future opponent, Tyson Fury
Malik Scottcoach of ex-world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilderspoke about the qualities and characteristics of two future rivals – the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Alexandra Usika and world champion according to WBC Tyson Furywith whom he had sparred earlier.
“There is a huge difference between them. The Tyson I boxed is my favorite Tyson. He’s elusive, quick, great back foot, good hand position, doesn’t give himself the chance to get hit.”
“When I boxed Usyk, he had better balance to throw punches. He reminded me of Lomachenko, only a heavyweight.”
Scott previously gave a forecast for the upcoming unification fight. In his opinion, at the moment the Briton is the favorite, but soon the situation may change in favor of the Ukrainian.
At the end of September, it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
The contract for the undisputed heavyweight title between Usyk and Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.
Oleksandr Usyk, in his last fight on August 26 in Wroclaw, defeated Daniel Dubois by technical knockout in the ninth round. Fury will fight against Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
