2022 Russian Champion and participant in the 2023 World Championship Pavel Sosulin said he plans to combine Olympic and professional boxing with an emphasis on the latter.
On Thursday in Perm, Sosulin defeated Uzbekistan’s Bokhromdzhon Fozilov by fifth-round technical knockout in a junior middleweight fight at the Ural FC 4 tournament. Sosulin has eight victories (three by knockout) in the professional ring. Sosulin’s previous official fight in the professional ring took place in April 2022, when the Russian defeated his compatriot Igor Ivanchenko by unanimous decision.
“We prepared hard, it was very difficult.” But as they say, it’s hard to learn, but it’s easy to fight. At the same time, I can’t say that it was very easy for me today. The opponent caused certain tactical difficulties. But my coaches and seconds guided me competently, so everything went well. I haven’t boxed professionally for a long time, but I’ve had many starts in Olympic boxing. We prepared for the eight rounds, functionally I felt very good.
—Are you planning to focus solely on professional boxing?
— As long as my health and age permit, I would like to compete both professionally and in Olympic boxing. At the moment, I want to pay more attention to professional boxing.
— So you want to box more to earn more, or is it a question of inheritance?
— We must leave our legacy and that of our team, preserve our name in history. “I would like to thank the Perm fans for such a warm welcome today,” reports correspondent, according to Sosulin.
