Dzhambulat Bijamov said he plans to switch to professional boxing

Double Russian champion and 2021 World Championship silver medalist Djambulat Bijamov said he was considering the possibility of switching to professional boxing.

Bijamov, as part of the Tula team, takes part in the Victory Cup. On Saturday, at the third stage in Kazan, he defeated Stanislav Sotskov from Sibir by unanimous decision in the weight category up to 80 kg.

– Opponents are estimated to weigh more than 75 kg. I adapt little by little. I knew the opponent, we fought with him in the final of the Russian championship in 2019. I was opposed to a good and sensitive boxer, so it was not possible to show a spectacular fight. They wanted to surpass themselves. But overall I’m happy.

I like to play ” Victory Cup” very much. It’s something new in the world of boxing. We perform with other gloves, without T-shirts. I wish there were more competitions like this. Want a star? To be honest, even if I go to ordinary competitions, I will not feel superior to others, although the badges may allow it. I always treat my opponents with respect and expect even more from them.

If we are talking about the transition to the professionals, then I think about it. Due to the situation in the world, I don’t know if there will be an Olympics. But I always intended to turn professional after the Games, Bizhamov told reporters.
