Undefeated fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov explained why he was not present in the corner of Islam Makhacheva during the Russian’s title fight against Australian Alexander Volkanovski.
On Saturday, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi by first-round knockout to retain the UFC lightweight title. Nurmagomedov was not present in Makhachev’s corner in the UAE arena.
– You ask, where was I? Why wasn’t he around? I’ve already answered this question, I don’t go to fights, I’m not around and I’ve completely left everything MMA related.
I ask you to accept my decision in the same way as my brothers, friends and training partners. What our team achieved will forever remain in the history of this sport,” Nurmagomedov wrote on the social network.
