Athletistic/ Boxing. The UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi has ended, in which eight Russian fighters took part.

In the first middleweight fight, Russian Sharabutdin Magomedov and Brazilian Bruno Silva fought. The fight ended with the Russian winning by unanimous decision after three rounds. For Magomedov, it was his first fight in the UFC.

Following them in the octagon were Russian Victoria Dudakova and American Jean Yu Frey. The fight in the women’s minimum weight lasted all three rounds and ended with the victory of the Russian fighter by unanimous decision. Dudakova earned her 8th victory in 8 MMA fights and remains an undefeated fighter.

In the final fight of the preliminary flyweight card, 23-year-old Russian-British fighter Muhammad Mokaev and 36-year-old American Tim Elliott met. The fight ended early in the third round with a choke performed by Mokaev. For Muhammad, it was the 11th victory in 11 MMA fights.

In the first fight of the card, Russian Said Nurmagomedov and Tajik fighter Muin Gafurov fought. The bantamweight fight ended in the second minute of the first round after a choke by Said Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov earned his 19th victory in 22 fights.

After Nurmagomedov and Gafurov, Russian Ikram Aliskerov and Brazilian Varley Alves performed. The middleweight fight lasted 2 minutes 7 seconds and ended with Aliskerov winning by technical knockout. For the Russian fighter, it was the second fight in the promotion and the second victory. Both fights ended in the third minute of the first round.

Before the co-main event of the light heavyweight tournament, Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev and Brazilian Johnny Walker met. In the second half of the first round, Ankalaev delivered a prohibited blow, after which the fight was suspended. After Walker was examined by a doctor, the fight was declared invalid despite the fighters’ desire to continue.

In the co-main event, Russian-Swedish fighter Khamzat Chimaev and Nigerian Kamaru Usman, who replaced Paulo Costa, met. The fight lasted all three rounds and ended with Chimaev’s victory by majority decision – 29-27, 29-27, 28-28.

The main event of the evening was a rematch between Russia’s Islam Makhachev and Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski replaced Brazilian Charles Oliveira, who withdrew from the tournament. The lightweight fight ended with Makhachev’s victory by knockout in the 4th minute of the first round. The Russian defended his lightweight title and beat the Australian fighter for the second time.
