Veteran MMA Jeff Monson told he expected the Russian to win Islam Makhacheva on the Australian Alexander Volkanovski .
On Saturday, Makhachev knocked out Volkanovski in the first round in the main event of UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi and defended his lightweight championship belt.
– I was very impressed. I expected him to win, but not in the first round. Makhachev is a very good fighter with a bright future,” Monson told .
Makhachev, 31, won the 25th victory of his career with just one defeat.
