The Briton would like to see the fight between Klitschko Jr. and Nikolai Valuev
Former world champion David Hay recalled the fights in his professional career and singled out two boxers whose fights turned out to be the most vivid and difficult for the Briton.
“One of the two is Vladimir Klitschko or Nikolai Valuev. I would like to see them fight head-to-head, to see how Wladimir would fight someone bigger than him. It seems to me that Klitschko always had a physical advantage over his opponents.”
“They had such an advantage over me, but in the fight with Valuev I implemented the plan for the fight better. If I had fought with Klitschko on the same evening as with Valuev, perhaps the result of our fight with Wladimir would have been different.”
“It’s crazy because I actually lost to one and beat the other. But at the same time, these fights took place at different periods of my career. Therefore, to be honest with them, the chances of Valuev and Klitschko are somewhere around 50/50.”
Haye began his career in 2002 with a defeat against Carl Thompson, but then managed to become the undisputed cruiserweight champion. After that, he moved up to the heavyweight category, where he immediately became the WBA champion, defeating Nikolai Valuev in 2009.
David lost his title in 2011, losing on points to Wladimir Klitschko in a fight that was preceded by a bitter media spat between the boxers. After defeating Dereck Chisora in 2012, he was forced to sit out three and a half years due to shoulder surgery, which effectively ended his career.
After that, he lost twice to Tony Bellew, finishing his professional career with 28 wins and 4 losses.
