Joshua: I don’t think Wilder will be my opponent in December

The name of AJ’s likely opponent has not yet been revealed

Former World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua continues to plan his fight for December. However, AJ believes Deontay Wilder’s appearance as an opponent at the end of the year is unlikely.

“In Saudi Arabia they want to fight Usik vs. Fury and Joshua vs. Wilder on the same evening. When Fury defeats Ngannou, it will be at the end of October. I doubt he will prepare for Usyk and then fight in December. This is too short a time.”

“So the next window will be March or April and that’s when the undisputed fight will happen. They tell us they want to put on an incredible show.”

“My fight? This will not be a champion like Usik and Fury. It won’t be either of them, and I’m not too sure about the Wilder situation. Some fighters want to maximize their income. And in terms of an opponent for December, I need to find the right opponent.”

Previously, promoter Eddie Hearn reported that all conditions between Joshua and Wilder’s teams had been agreed upon, all that remained was to determine the location of the fight. The promoter is ready to consider other countries besides Saudi Arabia. Hearn later noted that agreement on a date could not be reached.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Deontay’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.
