Team Kama boxer Kagir Minatullaev believes he managed to prove himself at the third stage of the Victory Cup in Kazan.
Minatullaev, who competes in the weight class up to 60kg, beat Moscow’s Shamil Askerov by unanimous decision on Sunday.
– I was opposed by a good opponent who is older than me. I knew this boxer and I adjusted the tactics, in the end I managed to win. Public support loaded, I gave it my all. Victory Cup leaders met in this fight, which gave additional motivation,” Minatullayev told reporters. – I managed to feel the atmosphere of the tournament, a lot of fans gathered. Participating in such competitions is a great experience for me. I think I showed myself perfectly at the Kazan stage. And I really liked this atmosphere of professional boxing. It burdened me even more,” Minatullayev said.
Six teams take part in the tournament: Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Siberia (boxers from the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts), Tula (Central Federal District), Moscow (Moscow), Stalingrad (South Caucasian of the North) and “Kama” (federal districts of the Volga and the Urals).
The boxers will compete in Kazan from July 1-3, then the athletes will travel to St. Petersburg (July 8-10) and Orenburg (July 15-17). On July 30, the tournament final will be held in Moscow. The prize fund is 20 million rubles.
