At the end of 2023, Tyson is ready to fight two times
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury said that holding a fight with the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belts Alexander Usik scheduled for December 23 – this date is specified in the boxers’ contract.
“We signed a contract. It says December 23rd, doesn’t it? Only eight weeks will pass from the coming Sabbath. Why not?”
“I haven’t had a fight all year, so to have two at the end of it would be incredible. It’s a double check. There will be a nice big turkey at the Fury house for Christmas.”
“If the fight takes place on December 23, then I will sing the song Driving Home For Christmas. I’ll be back in the UK in time for Christmas this evening. And if the flight is delayed, I’ll spend Christmas with the reindeer at the airport.”
Fury will next fight with former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou. The 10-round fight between “The Gypsy King” and Ngannou will take place on October 28 in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The WBC granted Tyson special permission to fight the former UFC champion.
It is expected that immediately after this fight the final date for the unification fight between Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belt holder Alexander Usyk will be confirmed. Promoter Eddie Hearn expressed doubt that the fight for the title of absolute champion will be able to be held in December: according to him, Usyk will need a longer period of recovery after the previous fight with Daniel Dubois.
