Heavyweight champion suffered serious injury just weeks before his title fight at UFC 295; Brazilian is “promoted” to main fight

Jon Jones is out of UFC 295. Early this Wednesday morning, the 25th, Dana White, president of Ultimate, announced that the current heavyweight champion suffered a serious injury during training. Thus, the fight for the belt against Stipe Miocicscheduled for November 11th in New York, was cancelled.

Former champion Miocic was also withdrawn from the event. The organization called Sergei Pavlovich It is Tom Aspinallsecond and fourth placed in the heavyweight division ranking, to compete for the category’s interim belt in the edition.

“Jon Jones was training yesterday (Monday) night, he got injured. He was wrestling and tore the tendon that connects the pectoral bone to the bone, it came off the bone. (Out for) Eight months, he will need surgery. He is out”, said Dana White.

With the decision, the fight between the Brazilian Alex “Poatan” Pereira and the Czech Jiri Prochazka will be the main event of UFC 295; the clash will feature the light heavyweight belt (83.9kg), currently vacant.
