Minakov called Pavlovich the favorite in the fight with Aspinall

Russian UFC fighter Sergei Pavlovich will be favorite for next fight with Briton Tom Aspinall, says mixed-style fighter Vitaly Minakov.

Earlier, UFC chief Dana White said Pavlovich would fight Aspinall for the organization’s interim heavyweight title. The fight will take place at UFC 295 in New York on November 11. The fight became possible because current champion Jon Jones was injured and will fight Stipe Miocic.

– The fact that Sergei had the chance to fight for the title, although temporary, is a great success, because he was in the running among the contenders. Sergei has every chance of winning this belt: he is hungry for victories, he is resistant, trained and impactful. I’m sure he will win. The main thing is to approach in a good psychological state: not to act pretentious, to avoid psychological triggers and excessive responsibilities.

If he becomes the owner of the interim title, then we will see a completely different Sergei: there will be a psychological takeoff. We spend our whole life not training motor skills, because after a certain number of battles in terms of technical equipment everyone becomes approximately equal, but we train psychology: we are waiting for the toggle switch to switch from uncertainty to confidence. Opponents have time to prepare for each other and there will be an understanding of what can be expected in the Octagon,” Minakov told RT.

Pavlovich has 18 wins and one loss in MMA and is on a six-fight winning streak. Aspinall has 13 wins and three losses. In the UFC, the Briton fought six fights, in which he won five victories.
