Russian mixed martial arts fighter Andrei Koreshkov rated the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion’s chances Islam Makhacheva at the top of the UFC rankings regardless of weight categories.
Makhachev defended his champion title last week in a fight with Australian Alexander Volkanovski, after which he rose to second place in the rankings, regardless of weight categories. American heavyweight champion Jon Jones is in the lead.
“On the one hand, if the Russian also wins the welterweight belt, the UFC management will have no choice but to place him at the top of the rankings. On the other hand, they may make a different decision. Maybe that won’t be enough. It’s not only about the number of belts, but also the number of fights, the level of opposition and other factors,” Koreshkov told RT.
