American boxer Kevin Johnson says what exactly attracts him to Russia.
On April 1, Johnson contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin to request Russian citizenship. It was reported that the boxer submitted all the necessary documents to Samara. For his last fight in August in Moscow against 2021 world champion Mark Petrovsky, Johnson fought under the Russian flag.
It is also known that the athlete chose his middle name Vladimirovich in honor of the head of state. Earlier, promoter Vladimir Khryunov said that a meeting of the citizenship commission would be held on November 8, at which Johnson’s issue would be considered.
— When will you officially become a Russian citizen?
– I did everything for that. I will be Russian.
— Why do you want to become Russian?
— It’s worth becoming Russian. Many would like to acquire Russian citizenship now.
— What do you like about Russia?
– All. Culture, gastronomy, girls, these are my top 3.
– Maybe something else?
— I say culture, food and girls. If you deprive me of food and women, I will die. We do everything for women. We live for them, earn money, fight for them, do everything to impress them. You dress yourself for women. “I do everything for them,” Johnson told .
Johnson, 44, has 36 wins, 22 losses and two draws in the professional ring. During his career he boxed, among others, Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz, Kubrat Pulev and Derek Chisora.
