Athletistic/MMA. Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier has shared his opinion on the future of Russian UFC lightweight world champion Islam Makhachev.

Last week, Makhachev scored a first-round knockout victory over Australian Alexander Volkanovski and successfully defended his title.

“I think the next opponent of Islam should be Conor McGregor. This is essentially the most lucrative fight the UFC has to offer. So why not? Islam seems like a guy who will hold the title for a long time. Makhachev must now reach a new level of popularity. To do that, he needs someone who can accelerate his rise to stardom. And Conor McGregor can become such an opponent,” Cormier said in an interview with ESPN MMA.
