— Within the federation, we initially took a legal position on this issue. The sports law states that a national team is created to participate in competitions on behalf of the Russian Federation. But only! There is no provision for a neutral flag or a refugee team. We live in a state of law and the requirements of the law are a top priority, which is why we have taken such a clear position.
As for the fact that athletes can independently participate in the Olympic Games under a neutral flag… They probably can, but then the athlete ceases to be an athlete of the Russian national team and becomes neutral. He cannot then represent our country. He denied it. We have always had this position.

We had no disagreements either with the athletes or with the presidium. As a coach responsible for the results of athletes, I understand well what sports citizenship is, what it means to compete under a neutral and incomprehensible flag. There is a clear and verified position of each athlete on the team.
— Has the International Federation reacted in any way?
— They invited us to play under the flag of the European Union. Comments are even useless! We don’t even want to talk. We are waiting for the election of the president of the international federation and changes, we are waiting for common sense and the abolition of discrimination against Russians.
-Who is the president now?
– The situation is difficult now. There is one that plays a role there. In the United States, during the World Cup, a procedure will be carried out to re-elect the president. We hope that it will be run by a competent person who will be able to solve the problems.
— Do you promote your competitions in the country?
— Yes, as first vice president and head coach, I can say that we have no downtime. We organized our international competitions in Moscow and in February 2024 the 8th international tournament “Moscow Stars” will take place, to which all our colleagues and friends come. Representatives of the PRC, India, those who support us and believe in our high status. Our president Gleb Muzrukov started working in 2008 on the development of new international formats.
