The promoter gives credit to the Ukrainian, but believes that the Briton is stronger
Promoter Frank Warren told what he thinks about the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexandra Usik in the context of his upcoming confrontation with the holder of the WBC heavyweight belt Tyson Fury.
“I just think he [Фьюри] best fighter. You know, I followed Usyk, I watched a lot of his fights, including in the amateur ring. And I know what his weakness is. It was definitely brought out and shown in his last fight. He is very vulnerable to body shots. And, you know, I don’t want to discuss this whole situation with Daniel again. [Дюбуа]but he showed this weakness.”
“And I think Tyson realizes this too. Usyk has amazing work speed. He’s brave and strong, but he’ll be fighting what I consider to be the best heavyweight of his generation. And I think that in any generation, in any century, he would have been there, among the best.”
Warren’s promotion company represents, in particular, the interests of Tyson Fury, as well as British heavyweight Daniel Dubois, who lost to Usyk in a scandalous fight with a low blow in August.
At the end of September, it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
Before the meeting with Usik, Fury will fight against Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place today, October 28, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. According to Bob Arum, the final date of the unification fight will be determined depending on Tyson’s condition after the fight with the former UFC champion.
According to the latest statements by Fury and Usik themselves, everything is heading towards their meeting in the ring taking place before the end of this year.
