The fight was supposed to take place in Tokyo on November 15
Japanese promotion company Teiken Promotion has officially notified that the defense of the WBA flyweight title (up to 50.8 kg) Artem Dalakyan against mandatory challenger Seyigo Akuyi is postponed indefinitely.
The reason is an injury suffered by another Japanese boxer Takuma Inoue in preparation for his WBA bantamweight title defense against Jerwin Ancajas.
The fight of Ionue Jr. (Naoya Inoue – holder of the WBC and WBO super bantamweight titles) was supposed to be the central event of the event on November 15 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan arena in Tokyo. Dalakyan and Akuyi were scheduled to fight on the undercard of this fight.
The entire event has now been canceled and postponed indefinitely. The Japanese side apologized.
36-year-old Ukrainian Dalakyan won the world title in 2018. Artem had his last fight in January 2023 against Costa Rican David Jimenez. The fight lasted all 12 rounds, the judges unanimously gave the victory to the Ukrainian.
