Musaev defeats Otop by first-round knockout
When two of Thailand’s top Muay Thai gyms send their fighters to compete at Lumpinee Stadium, that’s exactly what happened in Friday’s main event. Team Mehdi Zatout’s Ilyas Musaev took on Sor Sommai’s Otop Or Kwanmuang in a Muay Thai bantamweight bout that took just under a full round to finish the fight.
Otop had an anthropometric advantage, but Musaev was able to quickly close the distance and elbowed his opponent, which immediately drew blood and a countdown from the referee, but which Otop countered. But moments later, Musaev sent his opponent into the corner of the ring with a right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight at 2:59 of the first round. The 21-year-old Russian’s victory was only the tenth of his professional career, meaning he still has a long and interesting road ahead of him in ONE.
