Two-time world champion and Olympic champion, Rafaela Silva completed the gold medal rack in her career; judoka led the country’s day in the sport

Rafaela Silva won the gold medal in judo at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. This Saturday, the 28th, the judoka was champion in the under-57kg category after beating the Argentinean Candela Brisa Gomez at the final.

Two-time world champion and Olympic champion, Rafaela had not won gold in a Pan edition. Four years ago, the Brazilian lost the title in Lima after being punished for doping. She became the first judoka to reach the highest place on the podium in all three competitions.

“That’s what I came for. I am very satisfied. This has always been my struggle throughout my life. It was my fourth edition of the Games. I always hit the beam and had the gold taken away. Today it finally came out. I leave very satisfied. It’s a duty done. I came with just one goal. We don’t stop here. We are already back for next year, because we want Paris 2024”, celebrated in an interview with “Canal Olímpico”.

Brazil medaled
