Promoter invites Francis Ngannou to fight Anthony Joshua
Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou deserved victory in the fight with the WBC title holder Tyson Fury. Hearn offered to fight his ward Anthony Joshua with Ngannou.
“You have one guy who had never boxed before and another who looked like he had never boxed before. A complete newcomer, in everyone’s opinion, defeated Tyson Fury. Ngannou won this fight. He just beat the lineal heavyweight champion, as crazy as that sounds.”
“Forget about the Fury-Usyk fight. Ngannou just beat him. You have to rematch or AJ will end Fury’s career. Six rounds is all we need.”
“If Fury fights Usyk, we will fight Ngannou. All we need is three rounds. It’s easy for me to arrange a fight. I know there is a huge demand for AJ vs Ngannou. I need to talk to AJ. He wants to reclaim the heavyweight title. We only need six rounds for Fury and three rounds for Ngannou.”
Fury defeated Ngannou to win the Riyadh title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
Fury intends to fight his next fight with WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik. The British promoter Frank Warren said that he cannot yet name the exact date of the fight between Usyk and Fury. The Briton suffered a cut and will need time to recover.
