Middleweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev in a duel with a Nigerian Kamaru Usman During UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, he suffered a torn ligament in his right hand, ESPN reports, citing Chimaev’s manager Majdi Shammas.
Chimaev, representing the United Arab Emirates, won on October 21 by decision against Usman, who entered the fight on short notice. Earlier, MMA fighter Azamat Dugulubgov, who trained Chimaev during preparation for the fight with Usman, told that Khamzat broke his arm in the first round.
Shammas said the fighter was diagnosed with a torn ligament. He will wear a brace for the next four weeks. As of now, it does not appear that he will need surgery.
