54 finalists have been identified in 18 categories for the 2023 National Sports Prize, reports the press service of the Russian Sports Ministry.
In the nomination “Pride of Russia”, in which the athlete of the year will be determined, are presented: two-time Olympic medalist in swimming, world record holder Kliment Kolesnikov 2020 Games silver medalist, world boxing champion Muslim Gadjimagomedov and three-time freestyle world champion Maxim Bourov who in 2023 led the general ranking of the international Champions Cup tournament.
Candidates for the title of Athlete of the Year: European rhythmic gymnastics champion in the team event Lala Kramarenko Olympic artistic gymnastics champion in the team event Victoria Listunova and World Championship silver medalist, swimming world record holder Evgenia Chikunova .
In the “Coach of the Year” category, the following were awarded: rhythmic gymnastics coach Vera Shtelbaums, swimming coach Vitta Novozhilova and coach of the Russian fencing team Yulia Garayeva.
Among the candidates for the award in the “Epoch of Sports” category were Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev, Olympic saber fencing champion Mark Rakita and Soviet football goalkeeper Rinat Dasaev.
Winners in these and other categories will be announced at a ceremony on November 30 at the State Kremlin Palace.
