Martin compared the body blow Alexander missed from him with what happened in the Ukrainian’s fight with Dubois
Congolese heavyweight boxer Martin Bakole talked about knocking out the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belt holder Alexanderv Usikv during one of the sparring sessions.
“He’s a good boxer, very good. But in the Takam fight you could see how tough I am. If I stand in front of you, you won’t survive. Oleksandr Usyk is an excellent boxer who moves well. But I know how to work with lefties. I have no disrespect for Usyk. I respect him, but I’m ready to beat him, to test myself in a fight with him.”
“Of course there was a knockout. I knocked him out easily. You can ask him about it. I didn’t stop him in the sense that the sparring stopped. I stopped him with a body shot, we rested for a minute and then started again. He’s a warrior. It was very similar to what happened to him in the fight with Daniel Dubois. The same thing happened in the hall.”
“I didn’t talk about this before because I’m a professional. But you can watch the press conference where Joshua asks him if he missed a body shot in the audience. People were already talking about it and Joshua asked him about that punch.”
Earlier in October, Bakole stated that he can handle lefties, and Usyk is well aware of this. Subsequently, Martin predicted the outcome of the Usyk-Fury unification fight in favor of the Briton.
On the evening of October 28 in Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou fight, Bakole knocked out Carlos Takam in the fourth round.
Fury later defeated Ngannou to win the Riyadh title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
In the next fight, the “Gypsy King” will face Alexander Usik in the ring. According to the latest information, the long-awaited fight will take place in Riyadh in February 2024. The fight was scheduled for December 23, but the Briton will not have time to prepare by this time. It is reported that Fury suffered two cuts in his last fight with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
