The WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight world champion again called what the Briton did unacceptable.
Daniel Dubois actually landed an illegal punch on Oleksandr Usyk in a fight in Wroclaw, Poland. The WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight world champion himself said it again.
According to the Ukrainian boxer, during that fight the challenger repeatedly tried to hit him below the belt, but continued to miss, but still hit him once.
“If Fury thinks that the body is my weak point, then that’s very good. Look, sometimes when you can’t win by the rules, you try to use some trick to win. If you watched the fight with Dubois, you might have noticed that he more than once I tried to hit him below the belt. Sometimes I was able to stop it because he missed. But in those moments when they were talking, I actually felt the blow.
When I saw the referee stop the fight for a low blow and tell me I had five minutes, I took my time. I don’t know how long it took me to recover – a minute, a minute and a half,” ProBox TV quotes Usik as saying.
We remind you that Usyk defeated Dubois ahead of schedule in the ninth round.
Earlier, the WBA made a final decision on Dubois’ appeal against the result of the Usyk fight.
