Former world champion Groves: I don’t think Usyk will be Fury’s next opponent

The “Gypsy King” could have another fight with Ngannou or retire

Former world champion in the second middleweight category George Groves believes that Tyson Fury may refuse a unification fight with Alexander Usik.

“I don’t think Usyk will be Fury’s next opponent. He will either fight Ngannou or retire. Fury tells everyone that he is the “Gypsy King”, that he is the man and no fighter can ever beat him. Now there is one guy who can beat him, and that is Usyk. Many people will agree with me. He doesn’t have to roll the dice and lose to this little Ukrainian with a gap in his teeth.”

“Fury would rather just sail off into the sunset. He is an interesting character and there are many possibilities for him to explore after boxing. But some doors may close on him if he loses to Usyk. I think he’s either going to fix what happened in the first Ngannou fight and get a lot of money again, or he’s going to retire.”

Fury defeated Francis Ngannou via split decision. At the same time, the ex-UFC champion knocked Tyson down in the third round, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.

The fight between Usik and Fury is scheduled for February 2024. The fight was planned to be organized on December 23, but the “Gypsy King” will not have time to prepare for this time. Fury reportedly suffered two cuts in his last fight with Ngannou.
