Hearn: I wouldn’t be surprised if Fury retires and doesn’t fight Usyk

Nobody knows what to expect from “The Gypsy King”

Famous promoter Eddie Hearn explained why the WBC title holder in heavyweight Tyson Fury may refuse a unification fight with the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Fury retires and doesn’t fight Usyk. After a fight, you feel excited for a few days, and then you start to slump. So how long will it take Fury to take him down? 3-4 weeks? February sounds too fast for me,” Hearn said.

The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23, but the “Gypsy King” will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It is reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause.
