Alexander once again emphasized that the fight should take place on December 23, “no matter what”
World champion WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik commented on the upcoming fight against the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury and once again insisted that the fight should take place in December of this year – according to the contract.
“My fight against Tyson Fury? It is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is written in our contract – on paper.”
“Frank Warren said a lot of things, accusing me of things that never happened. You know what? We have a contract – and the contract says that the fight must take place on December 23, no matter what.”
“I am in a position where I don’t have to think about anyone’s actions and I don’t have to analyze or criticize them [по поводу объявления боя с Фьюри перед его поединком с Нганну]. I remain completely neutral on this.”
“I know that Tyson is a difficult person and that sometimes he likes to pretend, but my strategy is that I have to be 100 percent ready for him or even more. I don’t care how Tyson Fury is prepared. It’s his business. I won’t tell you the tactics because Tyson Fury might read it.”
The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 (both the Ukrainian champion himself and his promoter Alexander Krasyuk insist on this date), but the “Gypsy King” will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It is reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the Briton may refuse to fight the Ukrainian altogether and end his career.
