World champion WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik believes that the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury could have deliberately not given his all in the fight with the ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannouto mislead the Ukrainians.
“In general, it seems to me that this is Tyson’s game to somehow relax me. But I understand that I need to do a lot of work to get into the ring with him and win. But if Fury acted, then I think he should get an Oscar,” Usyk said.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. At the same time, the ex-UFC champion knocked Tyson down in the third round, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23. The Ukrainian champion and his promoter Alexander Krasyuk insist that the fight should be held on the day specified in the contract. However, the “Gypsy King” does not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It is reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the Briton may refuse to fight the Ukrainian altogether and end his career.
