UFC fighter Armen Petrosyan explained how he trains with his former opponent

Russian middleweight Armen Petrosian told how he trained with Artem Levine with whom he fought twice in the final of the Russian Muay Thai Championships.

The 33-year-old fighter has been competing in the UFC since 2022, with a record of 3 wins, 1 loss in the promotion (9-2 overall in MMA). Petrosyan has long participated in Thai boxing and won the world championship in 2015.

— You fought Artem Levin twice in the finals of Muay Thai tournaments, and now you are preparing for a fight in American Top Team, where Artem trains. Do you remember your fights?

“We talked, but we didn’t remember it in detail, Artem always said that I was an annoying opponent for him. In Crimea (2014) I was completely inexperienced in this sport and still gave him a fight. And in 2015, we had a pretty even fight.

— Does Artem work with you as a coach now?

– Yes, of course, even when I went to America before the Dana White Contender Series tournament, I went there so that Artem would help me prepare. He is already my second in four fights.

— Artem has no experience in MMA, but you do. Do you think everything about Muay Thai won’t work in mixed martial arts?

— If you box like a classic Thai boxer, of course it won’t work. But if you watched Artem’s and mine’s fights, then we didn’t fight like classic Thai boxers. Therefore, now I really like the work he gives. He suggests some of his own tips, his own moments. It is clear that he does not know the fight very well, but for this my second mate is always with me, and when the fight ends, Artem does not say anything. But he has some good stand-up advice. And when I’m in the cage, I always listen to my seconds,” Petrosyan told .
